糖尿病性網膜症の臨床的観察—網膜症の頻度

Clinical Observation on Diabetic Retinopathy:Occurrence of Retinopathy

I．緒言

　近年内科医および眼科医において，糖尿病性網膜症の臨床的意義が高く評価されるようになり，また，糖尿病性網膜症に対する一般の関心が高まり，糖尿病患者の眼科受診率も増加している。

　しかし一面，糖尿病性網膜症に対して，決定的な治療法あるいは予防法も確立されていないのが現状である。

Five hundred patients with diabetes mellitus were studied as to the possible diabetic retino-pathy. Statistical evaluations were made be-tween the incidence of retinopathy as classified after Wagener and the various etiological factors.

1. Out of the 500 cases studied, 135 cases (27.0%) were found to be suffering from dia-betic retinopathy. Females with diabetes were more prone to suffer from diabetic retinopathy than males in a definitely significant way.

2. Two peaks were found in the distribution curve of incidence of diabetic retinopathy : one in the third decade and the other over the sixth decade.
