　シリコン後房レンズを挿入した50眼につき，長期的な観察と角膜内皮細胞撮影を行った。8眼でfoldableに，他の42眼はnon-foldableにout of the bagに挿入した。46眼（92.0％）で0.5以上の術後視力を得た。角膜内皮障害に関しては，観察期間が平均20.3ヵ月で，平均減少率は26.8％あった。挿入方法別では，non-foldableでは平均減少率が23.9％であり，foldableでは41.8％であった。foldable caseでは，術後約6ヵ月より角膜内皮障害を強く認めた。シリコン後房レンズの挿入に際しては，foldableよりは，non-foldableに挿入した方が，角膜内皮細胞に影響が少ないと考えられる。

I followed up a consecutive series of 50 eyes after cataract surgery using phacoemulsification and posterior chamber lens implantation. The intraocular lens was made of silicone (Staar, model 3-B). The posterior chamber lens was implanted out of the bag foldably in 8 eyes and non-foldably in 42. A corrected postoperative visual acuity of 0.5 or more was obtained in 46 eyes (92%).

The state of corneal endothelium was evaluated by specular microscopy after an average of 20.2 months after surgery. The endothelial cell count averaged 2,808 cells/mm² before surgery and 2,056 cells/mm² after surgery, showing loss of 26.8%. The endothelial cell loss averaged 23.9% for cases of non-foldable insertion and 41.8%for foldable inser-tion.
