33歳，男性，左眼穿孔性外傷後に発症したBacillus cereus全眼球炎の症例を報告した。B．ctreusは抗生剤感受性が特異的で，PC系，Cephem系のβ—lactam剤には抵抗性，EMには高感受性であった。本症例にはEMの全身投与により，視力の改善はみられなかったが全眼球炎は消炎せしめて，化療効果がみとめられた。
β—lactam剤の使用頻度の多い今日，B．cereus感染症はopportunistic infectionの一つとして，薬剤選択上注意しなければならないことを述べた。
A 33-year-old man developed panophthalmitis after perforating injury to the left eye.
Cultures were positive for Bacillus cereus isolated from the vitreous. This organism was resistant to β-lactam drugs such as penicillins and cephems, and highly sensitive to Erythromycin.
The panophthalmitis improved after treatment with drip infusion of Erythromycin and topical Gentamicin.
