緒　言

　先天性眼振については種々の手術方法が考案されており，また，Dell'Osso （1972）以来，定量的な眼球運動記録^1〜3）によつて眼振の静止位（nullrcgion）を鑑定し，手術筋の選択および量定が決定されるようになつている。

　これまで，先天性眼振の手術はface turnの矯正に，水平筋に対しては広く行われているが，上下筋に対してはPierse^4），Cüppers^5），Parks^6），Sch-lossman^7），Bastian^8），などの報告が散見するのみである。

We successfully treated three cases with con-genital nystagmus by vertical rectus muscle surgery. All the 3 cases had manifested habitual head tip with chin up position to alleviate nystagmus.

The nystagmus was pendular in the primary position, converting to jerk nystagmus on lateral gaze with the fast component corresponding to the direction of gaze. The coarseness of the pendular nystagmus decreased in down gaze which the patients maintained by elevating the chin by 20 degrees in one case and 15 degrees in the other two. Two of the three cases manifested a slight head turn to the right.
