Immunotherapy in herpetic stromal keratitis:Report II The effect of PS-K (krestin)

緒　言

　近年，何らかの免疫学的異常が示唆される疾患に対して，非特異的免疫療法が有効であるという報告が増えてきている。

　われわれは前報で実質型角膜ヘルペスにおける検索の結果，宿主の生体免疫能の低下を指摘した^1）。そしてこれが本症の病態形成に何らかの関与をしていると考え，その病態を改善するため，従来のIDU, steroid療法にかわる免疫療法をLevamisoleを用いて試みた。その結果，視力および角膜浮腫の著明な改善をみたことを報告した^1）。

We have been studying the possibility of immuno-therapy in herpetic stromal keratitis. In this study, the protein-bound polysaccharide preparation, PS-K (Krestin), isolated from Coriolus versicolor, was examined for its ability to treat this disease.

Thirteen patients were treated with 3g PS-K daily for 7 months in average. The visual acuity improved in 83% of the patients, and the corneal stromal edema in 88%. Delayed skin reactivity to a panel of antigens was generally increased under PS-K treatment. No adverse reactions were ob-served during this study.
