緒　言

　角膜は疾患の確認が比較的容易な部位であるが，日常診療において角膜腫瘍を経験することは稀である。事実，文献的にも本症の前癌部疾患といわれるBowen病は，球結膜角膜を含めて，国内外に70数例の報告がなされているが，悪性化は数％といわれ，角膜のsquamous cell carcinomaは例しか報告されていない^1,2）。今回われわれは47歳男子の片眼角膜に乳白色の腫瘤を経験し，切除後の病理組織学的検索でsquamous cell carci-nomaと診断した。本症は非常に典型的な臨床組織像を呈したので，その所見を供覧するとともに，本疾患の成因，治療法につき若干の考察を加えたい。

A rare case of corneal squamous cell carcinoma in a 47-year-old male is reported. He has been affected with trachoma for the past 37 years. Two years before, he noticed a tumor arising from the limbus of the left cornea which then spread gra-dually into the center of the cornea. Initially, the tumor was solid, appeared as a whitish mass with numerous feeder vessels and was well circumscribed from the limbal conjunctiva. The tumor was re-moved surgically including the adjacent intact corneal tissue. Postsurgically, the cornea was trans-parent and the visual acuity was improved.
