緒言

　流行性角結膜炎は戦後我国各地に於いても狙獗を極めてから，最近はありふれた眼疾患として広く一般に浸潤して，都市のclinicに於いては散発性に見られるのが通例である。

　本症の病原が略々決定された今日は，病因についてもウイール学的に漸く輪廓が認識されるに到つたとはいえ，尚臨床的には鑑別診断，治療及び予防等について残されている問題も少なくない。

In October 1959, epidemic keratoconjunctivitis prevailed throughout a village "Shingo" in Aomori Prefecture, so the inhabitants of this village called it "Shingo" conjunctivitis.

The author examined the villagers and then, among the school-children found out 110 patients. Among them, 31 patients (28.2%) were accompanied at the same time by super-ficial punctate keratitis, 21 patients had pseudomembranes on their conjunctivas, 64 patients were infected from their families. Relapses seen to have occured in 11 cases.
