昭和38年青森における流行性角結膜炎の発生状況及びIDUを用いての治療成績

Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC) in Aomori District in 1963 and its treatment with 5-Iodo-38-Deoxyuridine (IDU)

Ⅰ．緒言

　1962年Kaufman^1）は，5—Iodo−2′deoxyuridine（IDU）がherpes simplex virusに対して極めて有効であることを発表して以来の，今迄の追試報告は，いずれもその有効性を認めているが，Kaufmanはその報告の中にadeno-virusに対しても有効であろうと言っている。然し，今日迄にadeno-virus感染症に対しての報告には接していない。

　私は流行性角結膜炎（EKC）の21例に用いて，可成りの効果を認めたので報告すると共に，昭和38年に於けるEKC患者の発生状況についても考察したい。

In a previous report of the author EKC occurred prevalently at every second year, confirmed by observations from 1956 to 1962. As was predicted there EKC was prevalent in Aomori District in 1963.

The infections rate of babies and young children has been rising yearly, 43% of all EKC patients occupied by them. A number of children showed also general symptoms, such as fever, cough. snivel and bowels.

Five routes were found to play an important role in the propagation of the disease: swim-ming pools, hospitals, schools, trips and fami-lies. The former four routes were then related to the familial foute, where it spread further.
