緒言

　毛様体上皮細胞の形態及び機能に関しては，古来，眼科学的にも最も興味ある課題のひとつとして，多数の研究報告に接するが，今なお充分に解明されたとは称し難い。申すまでもなく形態と機能とは共に密接に結びついた相関関係にあるので，その機能を論ずるにあたつては，形態学的研究の完遂が望ましい。

　近年電子顕微鏡学の発達により，細胞内微細構造に就ての劃期的な観察が，続々と行われつつあり，毛様体上皮細胞に就ても，その成績は解剖学者等により逸早く報告された。しかし眼科側よりの報告は極めて少く，種々の点で，われわれを満足せしめる程の結果は未だ得られていない。

Electromicroscopic studies have been carried out on the cells of the ciliary epithelium under various conditions, and the results in the normal adult white rabbits are reported here.

1) The infolding of the epithelial cells facing the posterior chamber and the special inter-cellular interdigitation have been observed both in the pars plana and pars plicata, although there is a difference in their development.

2) Some of the epithelial cells facing the stroma have high electron-density, and some, low electron-density. These two groups of the cells show different shape and intracellular minute structures.
