身体他部の化膿巣から転移して眼窩蜂窩織炎を来すことは稀ではなく，そのため失明又は死亡に至つた例も報告されている。私はこの度，腹壁癤から血行転移により最初に視神経内に膿瘍を形成し，眼窩蜂案織炎，全眼球炎及び眼窩膿瘍を次々に起し，遂に化膿性髄膜炎を来して死亡した症例を経験したのでここに報告する。
Metastatic abscess formation of the optic nerve was observed. A workman, 55 years old, was in succession attacked with carbuncle of the abdominal wall, purulent optic neuri-tis, panophthalmitis and orbital abscess, and then suffered from purulent meningitis and at last died.
After the autopsy, abscess sized as a grain of rice is proved at the center of the transe-ction of the left optic nerve.
