I．緒言

　1929年FlemmingがPenicillinを発見し，幾多の細菌性疾患に卓効を奏して以来，Strepto-mycinを始めとして多くの抗生物質が医用に供されて居る。

　眼科領域に於ては外眼部疾患殊に結膜炎はその病原菌が多種多様にわたり，且つ罹患率も高いので，抗菌帯が広く易溶で，しかも安定性が大で耐性菌の生じ難い治療剤が要求されて居る。

In a previous paper, the authers investigated the antibacterial activity of Dextromycin.

In this paper effect of Dextromycin on cases of acute conjunctivitis was discussed.

In 70 patients who had acute conjunctivitis, 0.5% suspension on sintment of 0.5% Dextro-mycin was topically used.

In these patients, stage, cause and symptoms of conjunctivitis were various and it was rather difficult to form an exact judgement on the effect of this drug.

However, for the present study a difinite improvement of symptoms and cure of disease was observed in 51 cases of conjunctivitis caused by bacterial infection.
