I．緒言

　Cortisoneに始まる各種副腎皮質ホルモンの全身的及び局所的応用は，多くの眼疾患の治療に劇的効果を現し，特に其の強力な抗炎症作用・抗アレルギー作用は，既に広く万人の認める所である。初期に於て用いられたCortisone及びHy—drocortisoneは，水及び電解質代謝に及ぼす影響，血糖上昇作用，消化性潰瘍の誘発・悪化，血圧上昇及び精神作用等の副作用のため，現在では殆んど顧みられず，Prednisone及びPrednisoloneがこれに代つて広く普及し，眼科臨床に於ても全身投与及び局所使用の形で愛用されている現状であるが，此等とて尚，多少水分及びナトリュームの蓄積作用のある事は，周知の事実である。最近，Prednisone及びPrednisoloneより遙かに優れた抗炎症・抗アレルギー作用を有し，しかも副作用の極めて少いMethyl—prednisolone，Triamcinolone及びDexamethasoneが脚光を浴び，広く臨床に用いられようとしている。

　我々は，此等の内，Dexamethasoneである所の"Decadron"を万有製薬より提供され，その全身投与成績について，既に臨床眼科14巻7号に発表した。ここでは，局所投与の一つとして，Decadron眼軟膏（Dexamethasone眼軟膏）を，種々の眼疾患の治療に用いた成績について報告する。

Decadron (Dexamethasone) ophthalmic ointment was applied to 29 cases of various ocu-lar diseases considered as indications of corticosteroid therapy and satisfactory results were obtained.

Before clinical application, 0.05% & 0.025% Decadron ointments were also applied to the allergic keratitis of rabbits caused by horse serum and their antiinflammatory effects were compared with that of 0.25% Prednisolone ointment.

Following conclusions were obtained.
