緒言
瞬目回数に関しては，病的の場合は，Basedow氏病患者に於ては，瞬目回数少くParkinsonis-mus患者に於ても，瞬目回数の減少を見ると言う事は一般に知られている事である。又，流行性脳炎の昏睡期に於ては瞬目回数が極めて少く，ヒステリーの際にも瞬目回数減少し，鞏皮症の場合も，瞬目回数が減少すると言われている。
之に反して，蛔虫症の際には，瞬目回数が非常に増加することがある。此の蛔虫症の際の瞬目回数増加に関しては，南熊太も既に報告している所である。
The authors measured twinkling times of 200 normal male adults and of 100 normal female adults for one minute, and concluded as follows.
1) Less than 10 twinkling times per a minute is 11.5% in male and 9.0% in female.
2) Less than 20 twinkling times per a minute is 40.5% in male and 39.0% in female.
3) More than 31 twinkling times is about 30.%.
4) There is no great difference between male and female twinkling times in general.
5) The average number of twinkling times per a minute is 13 to 23 in adults.
