In oder to find the degree of paralysis of the facial nerve or of latent paralysis the-rein a method is devised by the authors with which it may be used as a routine test. By means of penoscillography the blink reflex of both eyes are recorded sepa-rately for the speed of the responses manife-sted by the wave-length; these two records are compared to each other. The blink refle-xes may be elicited by using a light glabella-tap by means of a percussion hammer or by means of light-flash employing 200 w electric bulb. Diphasic spiking is noted the oscillo-graphic tracings in blink reflex; in normal persons the wave-length in the tracings is almost identical in both eyes. Discrepancies in this response reaction of both eyes more than 5% by glabclla tap and 8% by light-flash are regarded as to be pathological.
