緒言

　乱視矯正のさい円柱レンズ軸を乱視軸に一致させることはもとより大切である。さればといつて完全無欠な一致は通例望めない。眼の乱視軸測定の正確さもさることながら，眼鏡調整の実際，さらには眼鏡を実際に装用する状態に照らして，多少の誤差発生を免がれ得ないからである。また眼鏡装用時の異様な歪曲感を減ぜしめるため斜乱視の場合，円柱レンズ軸を乱視軸から多少ずらす方法をとる場合がなくもない。ところで眼前に装用する円柱レンズ軸が眼の乱視軸と斜交する場合，新たな乱視が出現し，その軸は円柱レンズ軸とも眼の元の乱視軸とも異なる方向をとることは古くから知られ，その現象は円柱検影法に応用されていて，数量的関係はEuler定理^1）から求められるので，矯正円柱レンズの軸の方向の狂いによつて生ずる影響の検討に利用してみた。

A false position of the cylinder axis in a corrective lens creates a new astigmatism, the axis of which does not coincide with the axis of the cylinder lens nor the original astigma-tism of the eye.

In the present paper a simple formula was derived with some approximation from the Eu-ler's theorem as follows : dC=0.035A dθ, where A is the cylinder powr of a corrective lens in dptr, dθ is the disagreement expressed in deg-rees of arc between the axes of the cylinder lens and astigmatism of the eye, and dC is the dioptric amount of the resultant astigma-tism.
