緒言
日常の診療にさいし，眼圧上昇や視機能，乳頭および視野等の変化を伴う定型的緑内障の診断は容易である。しかし診断技術の進歩した昨今でも，眼精疲労や単なる頭痛と，早期緑内障を鑑別することは非常に困難であり，かつめんどうなものである。
非可逆的な視機能の障害を生ずる前に緑内障を発見し，早期治療により失明を予防することが緑内障の診療に当たつて最も望ましいことである。けれどもなかには非緑内障患者が簡単な検査で緑内障と診断され，不安と絶望の念に駆られて転医してくる場合がしばしばある。
An appraisal is made on the current status of diagnosis of glaucoma based upon the outcome of systematic examination of patients who had been diagnosed as glaucoma suspect elsewhere. The final evaluation was made through findings by tonometry, gonioscopy, tono-graphy, quantitative perimctry, funduscopy, diurnal tonometric curve and a series of provo-cative tests.
Out of a total of 66 subjects with prior diag-nosis of "glaucoma", 30 cases proved to be non-glaucomatous.
