緒言
眼鏡レンズについては，光学方面では種々の検討が加えられ，無収差の良いレンズが作られているが，眼科方面では割合にこれに関する研究が少なく，最近脚光を浴びてきたVarilux lensなどについても，眼科では単に装用した感じで良いとか悪いとかで賛否両論が行なわれている。著者はまず自家用の眼鏡につき明視注視野を比較して，ついで非点収差を光学的に測定して，レンズの良否を判定しようと試みた。
The comparative studies of each compared distance and near clear-sighted visual field by wearing two kinds of bifocal lenses, two kinds of trifocal lenses or one varilux lens showed the result that each lens has his own clear-sighted visual field corresponding to the form of the spectacle, but the varilux lens has a peculiar narrow distance and near clear-sighted visual field which can be explained by the distribution of the astigmatic power of the lens.
