　アプラネーショントノメトリーは精密な眼圧測定法として臨床上不可欠の検査法であり，日常外来で広く利用されている。しかし，いまだ国産の製品はなく，主としてHaag-Streit社の製品を使用しなくてはならなかつた。また日本光学はスリットランプは製作しているが，これに付属するアプラネーショントノメーターはなく，かつHaag-Streit製のトノメーターはその構造上使用することが困難であつた。

　これらの理由から，われわれは新しいトノメーターの開発の必要に迫られ，従来のものより形も小さく，精度もすぐれ，またあらゆる位置で測定可能なトノメーターを設計した。さらにこのトノメーターを利用して，アプラネーショントノメトリー専用機を製作し，良好な結果を得たので報告する。

The construction of an applanation tonometer is described. It is based upon the principles set by H. Goldmann and the cone of the tonometer is supplied by Haag-Streit Co. The holder of the tonometer was so constructed that the reading is independent upon the positioning of the patient. The tonometer can be used in combination with the NIKON slitlampt micro-scope or with the specially designed tonometric microscope. In the latter instance, the value for the IOP can also be read through the view-finder.
