緒言

　正常者の涙液糖量（以下涙糖）に関しては，1922年本邦の和田^1）が涙液中に糖の存在をみとめて以来，諸家の報告がみられるが^2）〜8），測定方法も異なりその結果もまちまちである。この相違は，測定方法の異なることにもよるが，涙糖がごく微量である上に，涙液の採取が困難なことも一因と思われる。

　また，糖尿病患者における涙糖の定量的な研究としては，Lewis^4），徳田^5）及びGasset^6），の報告があるのみである。しかし，今迄のこれらの報告における測定法は，涙液中のglucoseの量のみを測定したものではない。

A total of 169 diabetic patients have been studied as to the glucose content in the tear fluid before and after peroral ingestion of 100g glucose by means of glucose oxidase method. 87 normal subjects served as control.

1. The glucose level in the tear in normals averaged 7.20±1.57 mg/dl approximating about 11.0% of the blood sugar level.

2. In diabetic subjects, the glucose level in the ear averaged 14.48±4.37 mg/dl approximat-ing 15.0% of the blood sugar level. These va-lues were significantly different from those ofthe controls.
