緒言
Carbenicillin （CB-PCと略）は1963年英国のBeecham社で開発された新しい合成ペニシリンで，1967年ウィーンにおける第5回国際化学療法学会にてはじめて世に紹介された新抗生物質である。わが国では，1968年第16回日本化学療法学会総会においてシンポジウムにとりあげられ検討された。本剤の最も特徴的な点は，PC系抗生物質では変形菌，緑膿菌に対して有効なことが知られたはじめての薬剤であることである。今回われわれは本剤の眼科的応用，特に局所投与における眼感染症の効果，眼内移行策につき検討したのでその成績を報告する。
The results of some studies on carbencicillin were summarized as follows.
1) The minimum inhibitor concentration of carbenicillin for 59 strains of staphylococcus au-reus isolated from patients were in the range of 0.78 to 100 or>100mcg/ml, 15 strains were 50mcg/ml, 14 strains were 12.5mcg/ml, by plate dilution method and for 6 strains of pseudomonas aerginosa isolated from patients were in the ra-nge of 62.5 to 1000mcg/m/.
2) Following by an intramuscular administra-tion 100mcg/kg in rabbits, blood level and aqu-eous humor level were studied.
