  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

1) Lincomycin has been well tolerated by 32 patients with pyogenic infection of the eye and proved effective for 28 cases. The agent was ineffective against 4 hordeolum cases.

By laboratory test 6 out of 27 strains of pathogenic staphylococci showed resistance to the antibiotic. The same strains showed also resistance to Erythromycin, suggesting the presence of cross-resistance mechanism. 2) Tetracycline-L-methylenelysine (Tetralys-al or ML-Tc) showed higher concentration in the plasma than Tetracycline hydrochloride when injected intramuscularly. Resistance to MC Tc was present in 13.2% of pyogenic or-ganisms studied.
