緒言

　細隙灯顕微鏡は1911年Gullstrandによつてはじめて作られ，その初期には，Vogt,Köppe，Henker Combergらにより改良されたが，戦後Littmann,Hruby,Goldmannらにより，多くのすぐれたアイディアが出され，最近の機械は大きな変革がある。これらはいろいろの点でわれわれの臨床に変化をもたらすので，ここに第1図に示したGoldmann 900とCarl Zeiss 100-16を主体として，ここにその大略を述べてみたい。

The most important methods and technical terms of slitlamp examination were developed by the ingenious pioneers, Gullstrand, Vogt and Koeppe. The most of archievement of earlier period may be found in the classic atlas of slitlamp microscopy by Vogt, but further im-provement, particularly after the World War II, were construction of simple slitlamp with common axis of rotation for the illuminating and viewing systems with the axis passing through the point to be examined, construc-tion of both microscope and slitlamp with longer working distance and increased luminance of the beam of light.
