I．緒言

　近視の発生原因と生化学的関連性についての追求の一つの手がかりとして，本年2月，女性453例を対象に屈折要素と血清成分との関連性につき統計的分析を行ない，興味ある結果を得た。その報告は，日本眼科学会および東京眼科集談会において行なつている。

　今回は，女性で得た結果をさらにつきつめるため，対象を拡大し，男性の近視と血清成分との関係を多変量解析により追求したので，その一部をここで報告する。

Refractive elements of the eye and various serum constituents have quantitatively been de-termined in 527 male adults. Analysis of refra-ctive elements included total refraction, corneal power, axial length, depth of the anterior cham-ber, refractive power of the lens, astigmatism and amount of anisometropia. Serum constitu-ent studies included P, Na, Ca, K, total protein, alkaline phosphatase, uric acid, cholesterol and phospholipids. The 527 test subjects, who were all students from ages between 18 and 23 years, consisted of 299 emmetropes, 208 myopics of less than 6 diopters and 20 myopes over 6 diopters.
