  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Quantitative estimation of various refractive elements of the eye has been conducted in 250 youths in Northeast Thailand in 1967 by slit-lamp photography of the anterior segments of the eye. The findings have been evaluated by comparison with those in the Japanese in the corresponding age groupe (Figure 1)

1. Myopia has been strikingly infrequent in Thais. In exceptional cases was the myopia over -1.0 diopters.

2. In emmetropic subjects, the radius of cor-neal curvature was greater in Thais than in Japanese.
