小動物の眼底撮影法

Fundus Photography of Small Rodents

緒言

　実験動物の眼底撮影は継時的な観察や記録が生体眼で可能であるという点で重要である。また実験動物としてラットやマウスののような小動物がしばしば対象に用いられ，これらの小動物の眼底撮影が必要となつてきた。

　しかし第1表に示すごとく，小動物眼球での実測データでは，たとえば体重290グラムのラットでは眼球直径が約6mm，角膜前面曲率半径は2.7mmと小さく，体重35グラム位のマウスになると眼球直径がほぼ3mm，角膜前面曲率半径も約1.7mmと非常に小さくなり，ヒトを対象に開発された従来の眼底カメラでは，その撮影は非常に困難になる。

A system for fundus photography of rat and mouse has been developed. With a specially de-signed contact lens which neutralizes the refrac-tive power of the cornea, excellent colour fun-dus photo or fluorescein angioram with appro-priate magnification can be taken using any fundus camera. Also, it is possible to have hi-gher magnified picture using Nikon Zoom Mi-croscope.

The new fundus photography would help us to have more informations from experiments on small rodents.
