　糖尿病患者に見られる白内障の多くは臨床的に老人性白内障の所見を呈し，只屡々その進行が通常の老人性白内障に比較して急速である事はよく知られている所である。又，従来糖尿病性白内障と云う診断名を下してもよい臨床像として（1）前後嚢下皮質の微塵状或いは粉雪状溷濁^1）（2）急速な進行を示す所謂Cataracta intumescens，（3） Ga—rdestern-artig即ち後嚢下のロゼッテ状溷濁で吸収可能なもの，以上3者が挙げられている。（1）は通常多く見られる型であるが，他の2者は稀であり，（2）は若年者，（3）は老齢者に時に見られるといわれる^2）。

　我々は今回糖尿病患者に見られる白内障を臨床的並びに病理組織学的に観察し，次の知見を得たので報告する。

91 (31.3%) cataract cases were detected out of consecutive 251 diabetic patients. Clinical appearances of these cataracts could be cla-ssified into three types : senile cataract, sub-capsular "snowstorm" cataract and posterior saucer cataract. Posterior saucer cataract was found in 21 (23.1%) of these cataract cases. From this fact, posterior saucer cataract seems to be one of the characteristic signs of diabetic cataract.

In histopathological examinations on six cases of posterior saucer cataract, no diffe-rence could be found between this type of opa-city and senile cataract.
