　添付用リドカインテープ（ペンレス^(R)）は皮膚局所麻酔薬として開発され，静脈留置や硬膜外麻酔における穿刺時の疼痛緩和に有効性が証明されている。今回筆者らは，内眼手術患者88例を対象とし，リドカインテープおよび抗不安薬（エチゾラム）による球後麻酔時の疼痛緩和効果につきプラセボと比較して評価した。リドカインテープ添付は球後針穿刺時の疼痛緩和に有効であったが，麻酔薬注入時の疼痛には影響しなかった。エチゾラム内服は球後針穿刺時痛，薬液注入時痛のいずれに対しても効果を認めず，またリドカインテープとの相乗効果も認められなかった。リドカインテープ貼付は球後麻酔針穿刺時の疼痛緩和に有効である。

We evaluated the analgesic effect of adhesive tape containing 60％lidocaine prior to retrobulbar anesthesia in 88 patients. We also evaluated the value of peroal 0.5mg etiozolam in alleviating pain during retrobulbar anesthesia. The patients were allocated to one of four groups. One group received lidocaine tape. Another group received lidocaine tape and etiozolam. A third group received etiozolam only. A fourth group served as control. Use of lidocaine tape significantly reduced pain during needle puncture（p＜0.01）but not during injection. Premedication with etiozolam failed to reduce pain during needle puncture or injection. The findings show that lidocaine tape reduces pain of needle puncture for retrobulbar anesthesia.
