Purpose:To report the pain-reducing effect of lidocaine tape during Botulinum toxin injection. Cases and Method:A total of 23 patients received Botulinum toxin injection. Fourteen patients of hemifacial spasm had received the same treatment before. They were asked to state the pain-reducing effect as compared with the previous session. In 8 patients of blepharospasm and in one with Meige syndrome, lidocaine tape was used unilaterally and Tegaderm 3MTM was used contralaterally. Subjective pain was expressed in 11 numerical scales. Results:In patients with blepharospasm, the pain during injection averaged 3.00 when lidocaine tape used and 7.94 without lidocaine tape. It was 3.78 and 8.56 respectively in Meige syndrome. Conclusion:Lidocaine tape was effective in reducing pain during Botulinum toxin injection.
