Abstract 文献概要

　18眼から角膜鉄粉異物を採取し，これに伴う錆輪を検索した。採取片はHE染色とPeal染色を施し光学顕微鏡で観察した。錆輪は，それが角膜表層，上皮層，基底膜，ボーマン層，実質のどの部位にあるかで異なる所見を示した。得られた所見は，筆者らが仮説として以前に提出した以下の電気化学理論と一致していた。すなわち，角膜鉄粉異物は涙液に包まれると通気差電池になる。電池のカソードに発生する水酸化ナトリウムは，角膜上皮層を円筒状に，基底膜を円板状に，ボーマン膜を逆凹円板状に溶かす。その後実質表層を円筒状に溶かし，溶解跡に水酸化鉄が沈殿して角膜錆輪ができる。角膜鉄粉異物がアルカリ腐食を経て錆輪となることが証明された。

　We examined corneal rust ring obtained from 18 eyes of iron foreign body of the cornea. Specimens were observed by a light microscope after staining by hematoxylin-eosine and Peal stain. The rust ring showed different findings according to its location：superficial,epithelium,basement membrane,Bowman's layer,or anterior stroma. Observed findings agreed well with the following electrochemical hypothesis of ours. Iron piece on the cornea functions as differential aeration cell after coming in contact with the tear fluid. Sodium hydroxide forms at the cathode and melts the corneal epithelium like a cylinder,the basement membrane like a disc,the Bowman's layer like an inverse concave disc,and the anterior stroma like a cylinder. The lytic corneal components leave precipitates of iron hydroxide as corneal rust ring.
