要旨　アメリカにおける小腸X線検査法の現状を中心に文献的な考察を行うと共に，私信および学会における印象などを加味して，文献の背後にあるもの，文献上では探ることのできないことなどについて若干の解説を試みた．欧米諸国において現在その必要性が強調されているのはenteroclysisであるが，この方法は日本における胃の二重造影法のようには普及していない．また，enteroclysisから二重造影法を行う場合にはメチルセルロース法が推奨されている．

　The present situation of radiologic examination in the western countries, especially in the USA, is considered, based on the recent bibliography. Through personal communication and impression in the meetings of the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists (USA) some notes are added to what is shown behind the bibliography and what is not felt out on the bibliography. The enterodysis is considered to be a superior method for examining the small intestine, but this has not become so popular as the double contrast method of the stomach in Japan. As with the double contrast method of the small intestine, methylcellulose method following the enteroclysis is recommended in the USA.
