はじめに

　茎状突起過長症は咽頭痛，頸部痛，咽頭違和感などさまざまな症状を呈する疾患として知られている。Watt W Eagleら^1）が1937年に初めて報告したことから，Eagle症候群とも呼ばれている。剖検例において，全体の4％に25mm以上の茎状突起の過長を認めたと報告した^2）。過長する方向に応じて症状は多岐にわたり，内頸動脈に近接し，機械的刺激を受けることで閉塞，解離をきたす報告もある^3）。近年では咽喉頭異常感症の鑑別疾患としても注目されている。

　治療法は内服加療と外科的治療に大別され，外科的治療には口腔内より切除を行う口内法と，外切開を行う口外法がある。

　今回われわれは口腔内に突出した茎状突起過長症例を経験し，口腔内より摘出したので報告する。

　Elongated styloid process syndrome is a disease that exhibits various symptoms such as sore throat and earache. This time, we experienced a case of styloid hyperplasia that protruded into the oral cavity. By performing 3D-CT scan, we were able to understand the condition of styloid process in detail. In this case, we performed styloidectomy intraorally under local anesthesia. In recent years, elongated styloid process syndrome has attracted attention as a cause of laryngopharyngeal abnormal sensitivity.
