Seishu Hanaoka is famous for performing the first surgery for a patient under general anesthesia in 1804, and his calligraphic works are highly valued. Although it has been suggested that a certain number of these works exist, a thorough investigation has not been conducted. We reported the published calligraphic works of Seishu in 2022 and have continued to research his work that is available online since July 2010 ; our research identified 25 new words and poetry by Seishu. We also observed three words during the investigation process. There are calligraphic works that attributed to another person with the same name(e.g., the journalist/politician Katsundo Minoura)and elaborate forgeries online. Caution is thus necessary when determining authenticity of many online works. Some of the newly discovered words are related to virtue, suggesting that the medical philosophy of the 18th-century physician Todo Yoshimasu may have influenced Seishu.
