Abstract

 Students learning activities in groups for the making of self-help device were analyzed to examine how instruction methods can be developed to promote the students' social skills and how teachers could be involved in the activities. This is part of the course of Nursing Methods II of Home Care Nursing. The results suggest instruction methods that utilize the following 4 items can be opportunities for improving the students' social skills: 1. groups are formed whose members have various abilities; 2. teachers give special support to groups which have an absent student; 3. teachers lead students to give negative opinions to the works along with positive ones; 4. students will have the experience of finding solutions by resolving their different opinions within the group.
