Abstract

 The purpose of this study was to investigate communication skills analyzed by the egograms for plan to promote communication skills in the nursing students. The subjects were 47 third-year students of a nursing college. The results showed that the total communication skills score was significantly highest in students with Nurturing Parent(NP)peak, followed by Free Child(FC), Adult(A), Critical Parent(CP)and Adapted Child(AC)peak egogram(p<0.01). The scores of total communication skills and all communication factors were significantly low in students with AC peak egogram. The scores of total communication skills and "Expression" in the communication factors were significantly low in students with A and FC bottom egogram(p<0.05). Results from this study suggest that students with AC peak, A bottom, and FC bottom are needed education in communication.
