 The purpose of this survey was to make clear the gender differences of needs of life and life satisfaction of schizophrenic outpatients.

 An interview investigation was done with 47 outpatients and the following results were obtained :

 1. The men needed the following things more than the women :

  ・ Consultation about work

  ・ Workplaces to work as regular staff

  ・ Opportunities for families to get knowledge and information about mental disease

 2. The life satisfaction of the men and the momen was influenced mainly by the following matters :

  Men: attention to appearance, job, willpower and physical strength, and meals

  Women: housework, money, health, and the existence of a reliable person

 The research shows that differences were recognized between the men and the women as have been described.
