  • Look Inside

Thoracoscopic and laparoscopic surgery against esophageal carcinoma has become common recently in Japan. We report a patient with esophageal carcinoma, diagnosed preoperatively with aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA) and non-recurrent inferior laryngeal nerve (NRILN), treated successfully by thoracoscopic esophagectomy. A 70-year-old man was referred to our hospital because of dysphagia and diagnosed as eso-phageal carcinoma. Although the esophageal carcinoma was in the early stage, contrast X-ray study and CT suggested ARSA.
