　われわれは1997年より乳腺の良性腫瘍に対する治療選択肢の一つとして，内視鏡下摘出術を行ってきた．外来において乳腺手術に対する整容性と医療コストに対する患者の意識調査を行い，私費診療の内視鏡手術と保険診療の直視下手術との自由選択で術式を決定したところ，患者が選んだ術式はアンケート調査結果と同様であった．すなわち，①若年者の良性腫瘍患者はできる限り乳房上に傷をつけない術式を希望する，②地元以外の病院でも受診する，③治療費が保険診療外でも整容性の高い治療を選択する，ということである．

Many female patients who require surgical treatment for breast tumor are concerned about the operative pro-cedures, especially the incision sites and size. According to the questionnaire in our hospital, 42% of the patients (80% of the patients were in their twenties) answered that they would reject the incision scar on their breast if they had a chance. We have supplied an original endoscopic extirpation procedure as an altemative method to patients with benign breast tumor for cosmetic reason since 1997.
