  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

It has long been noted that incompetent perforating veins contribute to the development of chronic venous in-sufficiency and recurrent varicose veins that are complicated by skin ulcerations or liposcleroderma. For theseconditions, severing of incompetent perforating veins in an effective surgical treatment. However. severing of in-competent perforating veins by a direct approach has become less commonly performed because of the exces-sive invasiveness of the procedure itself. If incompetent perforating veins can be severed without surgicalintervention in the lesion, this will be an extremely useful therapy.
