  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The task of recapturing nursing science as practical knowledge was emerged from the need for examination and criticism from a practical and everyday point of view as an alternative method to the theory nursing mainly relied on natural scientific thoughts and methods represented by medical models in the past. The structure of nursing as practical knowledge is a work of scholarly discipline in distinction to practical know-hows of nursing. In other words, this implies to establish a principle or a particular perspective reconstituting objects of nursing discipline.

We must acknowledge at this point that this characteristic of nursing discipline is to establish a principle for understanding the nature of nursing objects as well as a principle for providing nursing practice (function of aid). Cognition and practice have no relation to each other in theoretical science. However, nursing science is not a theoretical science based on purely cognitive approach. It is a theory for practical nursing. This means that nursing science unquestionably stands on the fact that the objective is based on the practice of nursing.
