Health care can feel chaotic when clinicians are juggling competing needs of patients in the complex health systems in which they work while improving quality. Still, there is a global call for evidence-based practice (EBP) to improve care quality (Hirata et al., 2023; World Health Organization, 2024). We are called to close the gap between the science or what we know and application or what we do in practice - the know-do gap. EBP process models are designed to address this know-do gap. A key step in the EBP process is implementation which may be the most challenging step (Dang et al., 2022; Dusin et al., 2023; Iowa Model Collaborative, 2017; Jordan et al., 2019; Melnyk et al., 2010). The original gap may be complicated by an additional “secondary gap” occurs when the EBP is known, but strategies used to implement are not evidence-based (Tucker et al., 2021). To close this gap, add an implementation framework to use with the EBP process model (Cullen, Hanrahan, et al., 2022; Powell et al., 2015).
