A maximum phonation time is influenced by the pitch and intensity of speaking voice. The author studied the change of air flow rate and maximum phonation time under instructed pitch and intensity.

After measurement of speech fundamental frequency, air flow rate, at the pitch of speech fundamantal frequency three, five and eight degrees higher than speech fundamental frequency at 65, 75, and 85 dB was studied.

The subjects comprised 12 (6 male and 6 female), 6 of these had been exercised a vocal training.

The result disclosed that the pitch at three and five degrees higher than the speech fundamental frequency and the intensity at 75 dB were the most constant. But the subject who had not received vocal training showed no definite result.
