術後性上顎嚢胞（嚢腫）について—口腔外科の立場より

POSTOPERATIVE MAXILLARY CYSTS

　I．はじめに

　副鼻腔炎手術後十数年を経て，上顎部に腫脹，疼痛をきたし，嚢胞を形成する疾患を1927年，久保が"手術後性頬部嚢腫"と命名してから約50年を経過してきた。

　このような疾患で前頭部や眼球の突出を主症状とする患者は眼科を受診し，鼻副鼻腔症状の強い患者は耳鼻咽喉科を受診し，上顎部の腫脹，歯牙の異常感を主訴とする患者は口腔外科を受診することになる。

　Since Kubo named the delayed complications that may arise some time after the paranasal sinus operations as the "postoperative malar cyst", various nomenclatures have been applied to this condition by various authors, such as, mucocele, postoperative maxillary cyst, postoperative maxillary cavity cyst and postoperative maxillary sinus cyst.

　Because these different terms are so complicated and often misleading as to its distinction from other highly hyperplastic malignant tumors, the author suggests a new terminology for this condition as "cystic sac".

　The etiology of the "cystic sac", the location of the growth and effects of its presence are discussed.
