舌根甲状腺手術例

SUBLINGUAL THYROID GLAND

　Ⅰ．緒言

　舌根甲状腺はHickman（1869）が舌根部にできた腫瘍により窒息死した新生児の症例を報告したのが最初とされ，以来かなり多数の報告をみるが比較的稀な疾患である。

　最近われわれは舌根部にできた腫瘍を単なる良性腫瘍として摘出したが，術後の組織検査で甲状腺組織であることがわかつた例を経験し，本疾患の診断，治療の面から考察を加えてみた。

　A swelling in the region of the root of the tongue was removed surgically believing it to be a simple tumor. However, microscopic examination showed it to be a thyroid gland.

　For diagnosis of sublingual thyroid x-ray visualization of the gland is important but, biopsy tissue examination is still, more, important.

　Surgical removal is the therapy of choice as long as normal thyroid tissue are present elsewhere.
