  • Look Inside

Two cases of objective tinnitus aurium are reported. In one case a woman, aged 64, was affected with a rolling-noise discernible to the examiner, for an instant, whenever the patient moved her head. The cause of this noise was found to be the presence of a stony foreign body 1.1 cm in diameter in the mastoid cavity.

In the second case a man, aged 42, was affected with a clonic spasm of the soft palate with an objective noise in the left ear amounting to 25 db in tonal intensity. No connection was established between this noise and the opening and closing of the mouth; no vibratory response of the tympanic membrane was seen. Eustachian tube origin was considered as the sourse of this noise.
