THE EFFECT OF VITAMIN K1 IN TREATMENT OF KANAMYCIN DEAFNESS

　Ⅰ．緒論

　カナマイシンは梅沢博士が長野県の土壌試料から分離した放線菌Streptomyces kanamyceticusの産生する新しい抗生物質であつて，グラム陽性菌および陰性菌，さらに抗酸性菌にも抗菌作用を有して抗菌スペクトルが広い，すなわち各種の急性感染症に奏効するが，なかんづく他種薬剤に耐性となつたブドウ状球菌，または赤痢菌，大腸菌感染が多くなつた現在では本剤に顕著な効果が期待される。

　さらに結核症に対しても，ストレプトマイシンに匹敵する効果を示し，ことにSM，INAH，PAS耐性結核菌による感染に対しても感受性菌の場合と同様に奏効するといわれる。したがつて結核症治療に一つの新しい有力な薬剤が登場し前途を明るくした反面，副作用としてKM難聴は耳鼻咽喉科領域の問題にとどまらず，社会的問題として取り上げられるにいたつた。

　Based upon the fact that kanamycin deafness may be due to disturbed enzyme action in the inner ear causing insuficient supply of oxygen to the part, 12 cases, 20 ears, of this type of deafness were treated by administration of vitamin K₁ B₁, B₆ and B₁₂. The treatment was highly effective in 70% of these cases: tinnitus aurium ceased and the hearing was recovered. The author states that the results are better if this type of treatment is instituted earlier in the course of affection and the treatment may be carried on along with the kanamycin treatment as preventive measure.
