A STUDY ON EMPYNASE

　Ⅰ．緒言

　Pronase-P（以下P-P）は蛋白分解酵素として知られているが，本薬剤を粘膜の慢性炎症治療の目的に使用するには現在この薬剤の作用機序がほとんど不明という難点がある。これについては検討すべきつぎのような数々の問題がある。すなわち，1）粘膜の炎症変化と蛋白分解酵素活性との関係―その基本的な作用点について，2）経口法による全身投与形式の妥当性について，3）その副作用について，などである。

　1）の点については単に低分子化酵素としてのみの作用かあるいはいわゆる抗炎症的薬理効果を有するか否かを解明することにあると考えられる。

　The effect of empynase, which is composed principally of Pronase-P, is studied macroscopically and microscopically, in causing changes on the state of increased acid mucopolysachrides that is found in the mucous membrane of the chronic sinusitis

　The agent administered by mouth failed to show any changes. Some changes were noted by in vitro experimentation.
