A Study on the speech development of young children was made by analysis of the so-called, "baby-talk" which was noted, quantitatively and qualitativly, from the standpoint of the increase in the vocabulary and the changes and clearness in the enun-ciationof individual words. A certain selected set of test-words were used; the infant was considered as subnormal if the baby-talk was noted to be more than 30% in the speech at the age 3 and more than 20% at the age 3 1/2.
