Mukasa reports a case of persistent vertigo and loss of balance that was due to neurosis.

The patient was initially operated elsewherefor tympanoplasty. From the 2nd postopera-tive day he began to complain of vertigo which gradually increased in degree and number of attacks. To alleviate these symptoms a repe-ated vestibulotomies were performed only to aggravate them and finally he was no longer ahlp to ambulate.

With this history the patient was investig-ated from a diagnostic standpoint. The organic injury in spite of the symptoms proved to be indeed small. The patient rec-overed under the regime of treatment of neu-rosis.
