The maxillo-turbinal plasty is recently modified as follows : The mucous membrane of maxillary sinus is separated in its entirety ; if the inferior border or this separated mucous membrane, which is lead out into the nasal cavity through the opening created in the inferior meatus, coincides with floor of the nasal cavity the size of the transplant-should be considered as the most ideal. Should that size be smaller than what is to be expected, the procedure is arrested by simple window opening of the lateral wall of the nasal cavity ; and, if larger the inferior border of the separated mucous membrane is trimmed to adjust its size in accordance to fit the floor. Another part of the sinus mucous membrane is lead out through the middle meatal opening and attached to the superior surface of inferior turbinate where a bed for the transplant had been previously prepared. The mucous membrane of the nasal cavity floor and the inferior meatus is separated to cover the newly transplanted tissue ; in this way ample blood supply will be established.
