Speech aphasia is noted in a patient imme-diately following traumatic injury of the head which involved an open fracture in the left temporal region.

The treatment of the aphasia is instituted 3 momths after the initial trauma by adao-pting a method in speech training; at 4 mo-mths pneumo-encphalography was performed. The latter procedure appeared to have enha-nced the speech recovery to an appreciable extent.

The progress in the recovery seems to be taking a change from Broca's type of aphasia to that of Lightheim's cortical aphasia.

The speech progress has been recorded from the begining of the affection intermitta-ntly by means of tape-recorder which served as note on the progress as well as a means by which the patient to gain confidence in his ability of attainment.

Statistical review of similar cases that were reported in the literature of this country is made.
